Gay, MI was once the site of two copper processing mills. Gay was originally a small lumbering town in the late 1890's. Monette traces the early history of the town and looks at its development. He spends most of his time examining the stamp mills, the logging industry, the railroad, and the Hebard sandstone quarry. The 120 pages brings the history of Gay right up to the 1960s.
