Joseph Bosch was born in 1850 and in 1867 moved to the copper mining region of Upper Michigan, finally settling in Lake Linden. In 1874, he built a small wooden building and equipped it with as much brewing machinery as possible. Thus began the Bosch Brewing Company which survived 99 years before being sold to J. Leinenkugel Brewery of Wisconsin. This book traces the development of the Brewery, the movement to Houghton, the fame of the beer, and the life of Joseph Bosch.
